Super Six Steelers - Who knew?

People picking the Steelers to have a Super Bowl season in 2008 were few and far between

Be very skeptical if anyone tells you he picked the Steelers to have a Super Bowl season in 2008. Most people guessed 8-8, or 9-7 at the very best. Few dreamed of the Steelers playing in one post season game, let alone winning their 6th Super Bowl. One for the other thumb indeed!

With several injuries and the departure of Alan Faneca, the offensive line was in total disarray. Big Ben rewrote the record books for the increasing number of times he was sacked. During the third game of the 2008 season, the Philadelphia Eagles spent more time in the Steelers backfield than Steeler running backs. After that game, the season looked long and grim. How would the Steelers even come close to beating the Patriots, Cowboys, Giants, Colts, Chargers and Titans?  Ouch!

But you know what? You have to take your hat off to the entire Pittsburgh Steelers team; the players, coaches and management. They never blinked, didn't give up, and gave new meaning to the word TEAM. They only lost 3 games after the Eagles debacle, staying together through thick and thin. The offensive line learned to play together as they faced the toughest teams in the NFL.
